There is no doubt education is an extremely dynamic field, where change is constant, expected and manageable. Occasionally major changes happen – disruptions often technology related, but they can be shifts in teaching and learning approaches, new policies, or administrative changes that impact educators and learners in profound ways. Changes may be immediate, obvious and powerful, or subtle enough that it takes longer to understand their full implications. A disruption might lead to a positive transformation – or it might not. The education landscape is diverse, composed of multiple relationships, contexts and perspectives for each the learner, the teacher, and the administrator. With so many issues converging in education today, acknowledging the dissonance we encounter can provide rich learning opportunities. Join your colleagues as we collectively explore this ever-changing landscape of the new possibilities for learning, addressing these and many other questions:
- What types of transformations are you hoping in our educational system?
- What are the best methods and techniques that promote innovation, collaboration and inclusion to support student learning?
- What new kinds of leadership are required for our educational systems?
Each year, the Canadian Network for Innovation in Education (CNIE) holds a conference to bring together education professionals committed to excellence in the provision of innovation in education. CNIE connects educators, administrators and practitioners in a bilingual, pan Canadian network. The group promotes research and advances in both open and distance education and the use of educational technologies. CNIE addresses all educational contexts, including K-12, post-secondary and the private sector.
