TEDxJIBC is a local, independently organized event to be held at JIBC New Westminster on June 5, 2019. We want this event to re-create the unique experience found at TED, where the leading thinkers and doers congregate to share what they are most passionate about. At the core, the fundamental goal of TED and TEDxJIBC is to foster and spread great ideas.
We aim to provide a platform where members of the JIBC community will be inspired and have the opportunity to inspire others. Our theme for this event is Small Ripples, Big Waves. The diverse group of people present will be able to learn from one another, both as speakers and as attendees, and will leave the event driven to creatively improve our collective future.
The format will be a suit of short, carefully prepared talks, demonstrations and performances on a wide range of subjects relating to our theme to foster learning, inspiration and wonder. Interactive activities and areas to congregate and interact will to provoke conversations that matter. As per the TEDx talk rules, the event will be multi-disciplinary. When the ideas seem unrelated, each member of the audience will invent their own, individual set of connections. This makes for a more engaging, personal and surprising experience, and will generate a wider array of questions and much more lively discussion.
